Strong Fourth Quarter Employment Picture Holds in First Quarter: Survey

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Two-thirds of all marketers plan to add staff during the first quarter of 2007, a figure that held steady with fourth-quarter 2006’s level, according to the latest employment survey by Bernhart Associates Executive Search, LLC.

The number of companies planning staff reductions remained at 10% while the percentage with hiring freezes dropped to 13% compared with 15% last quarter.

The strongest demand came among e-commerce related positions. “Those with a good grasp of the online echannel should find plenty of opportunity,” said Jerry Bernhart, president of the Owatonna, MN-based search firm, in a statement.

Bernhart added that employers are also looking to fill more technical positions than they had in recent years.
