Samsung Scores Multi-Year NFL HDTV Deal

Samsung aims to make marketing yardage with football fans with a new multi-year sponsorship deal as the official HDTV of the National Football League.

The pact between Samsung Electronics America and the pro football league will put Samsung HD sets in NFL stadiums in major markets as part of an HDTV upgrade. In addition to the screens, fans will see coach’s booths around the league equipped with Samsung HD sets.

“We are proud to be the number one pick of the NFL and a part of the most watched sport in the country,” said Tim Baxter, Samsung executive vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement.

A major activation campaign is planned with Circuit City that will include store signage.

The new deal is a renewal of that ranking, which extends a relationship Samsung had in place as the NFL’s HDTV brand.
