Sniper Trap, mindmapping and force field analysis: These may sound like course descriptions for psychic secret agents, but actually they’re techniques suggested in “Rousing Creativity: Think New Now,” a new how-to book on creative thinking by Floyd Hurt.

The book, published by Menlo Park, CA-based Crisp Publications, includes worksheets to help readers get their creative juices flowing. Topics covered include the “five essential factors” for achieving creativity; how to get the most out of group brainstorming sessions; “nuts and bolts” creative techniques; and “The Game,” an exercise designed to spur creativity.

Hurt, a speaker on creativity and marketing, also offers free creativity tips of the week through his Web site (www.rousingcreativity .com), which provides links to online booksellers offering the title.
