Papa John’s Pushes ‘Indy’ DVD with Coupons, Pizza

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Papa John’s is partnering with Paramount Home Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. to support the upcoming DVD release of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

The pizza chain is selling its XL Explorer pizza, an extra-large pie with up to three toppings for $13.99 in honor of the DVD and Blu-ray High Definition release of the movie on Oct. 14. The pizza is 30% larger than Papa John’s largest size and comes in a limited-edition box featuring a scene from the movie.

Some 2.5 million specialty boxes will be made for the promotion, Papa John’s spokesperson Tish Muldoon said.

And every Papa John’s order will include a coupon for $3 off the DVD, while supplies last, the company said.

Visitors can also watch clips from the movie. Movie-themed gift cards will also be available in $5 increments at Papa John’s restaurants for a limited time.

Papa John’s is also supporting the promotion with a TV spot, which broke this week featuring the XL Explorer pizza and footage from the movie.
