Procter & Gamble continued to cull shops in an agency review to consolidate promotions and marketing services for health and beauty care brands.
At the same time, P&G will name Ted Woehrle its first-ever VP-marketing for North America, effective July 1. The 21-year P&G veteran will oversee media and market purchasing and lead strategic development, according to news reports.
The business under review includes in-store marketing, events, direct mail, P-O-P and merchandising, per news reports.
P&G began with about 20 agencies and has reportedly narrowed the list to four or five. Contenders are thought to include a Publicis Group team comprised of Frankel, Saatchi & Saatchi and new shopper marketing agency Saatchi X, including ThompsonMurray; a Grey Group team with J. Brown Agency, entertainment marketing shop Alliance and design shop G2, Draft; and The Integer Group.
Cincinnati-based P&G began consolidating its roster of 200 marketing services agencies last year. Meanwhile, P&G continued its $4 billion media-planning review. A decision is expected next month.
