Office Depot is traveling the country in a recreational vehicle to promote its home office products.
The retailer has kicked off its month-long “Office Highway Tour”, dubbed the “first home office on wheels.” The tour shows how personal electronics and small business technology can aide a home office setting for on-the-go people.
Jeff Zbar, a small business advocate and chief home officer, is traveling 3,000 miles with his wife and three children in an Internet-connected, 23-foot RV, complete with a functional home office. The vehicle includes a computer, printer, wireless Internet, files and storage equipment.
The tour will travel through Central Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., the New York/Tri-State metro area and New England.
During the journey, Zbar posts blogs and Webcam videologues about his journey while offering tips to create a balanced work station. The tour will visit select Office Depot locations, and the Disney Entrepreneurial Institute in Orlando, FL.
Visitors to the branded RV will receive a copy of “Home Office Highway: A Digital Adventure Where Vocation Meets Vacation on the Open Road,” a free booklet on virtual officing from Office Depot. The next stop will be in Union, NJ, on July 17.
Customers can track the RV at http://www.homeofficehighway.com. There, visitors can also enter a contest for a chance to win products featured on the tour.
