Nissan Z Hits Road in EA Video Game

Video game speed freaks can test-drive the 2009 Nissan 370Z in a video game before the car appears in dealerships later this year.

The next generation of Nissan’s muscle car makes its virtual world debut next month in EA Sports’ “Need for Speed: Undercover,” the latest in that racing series for the video game maker. It marks the first time an automaker has introduced a new model via video game.

Nissan’s highly anticipated Z-car will be seen in action for the first time in the U.S. when the “Need for Speed” title is released on Nov. 18. The 370Z Coupe makes its real world debut the following day at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

“Together with EA, we have truly integrated the all-new 370Z in the overall gaming experience in a meaningful, multi-layered and profound way,” said Christian Meunier, Nissan vice president of marketing, in a statement.

The game’s designers worked closely with Nissan to replicate both the overall look of the new 370Z model, but the performance aspects of the car as well.

The “Need for Speed” series reaches Nissan’s core target demographic for the 370Z: young, affluent men naturally attracted to muscle cars.

The new “Need for Speed” will be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii gaming platforms. More information and a trailer are available.
