PILGRIM’S PRIDE CORP.: Pittsburg, TX, has severed ties with ConAgra Corp. by repurchasing $482 million in Pilgrim’s Pride common stock held by ConAgra. Pilgrim’s Pride financed the repurchase by issuing $523 million in common stock to other investors. Pilgrim’s Pride will use the remaining $40.5 million in cash for general corporate purposes.
ALLSTATE INSURANCE CO.: has extended its sponsorship of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams through 2008. Allstate has also renewed its sponsorship of the U.S. Pan American Team that will compete in the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and will continue as presenting sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame.
