PEPSICO: has been ordered by a judge to pay $250,000 to The Flamingos, a 1950s doo-wop band, for using their recording, I Only Have Eyes for You in a TV ad without the bands permission, the Associated Press reported.
DC AGENCY: Mindshare Interactive Campaigns has launched a new division, Redes, to handle online marketing to Hispanic consumers. The agency has hired Oscar Padilla as director of Redes (which means “networks” in Spanish); he honed his Internet marketing skills at DC firms Blackboard, Inc., Hitachi Consulting and Bixler, Inc. Nine-year-old Mindshare is not related to WPP Group’s MindShare media company.
