Merkle, a database marketing agency, will break ground on a five-story, 120,000-square-foot facility in April. Construction will be completed in June 2008.
Once finished, Merkle will move its corporate headquarters from its current location in Lanham, MD to the building, which will be located in Columbia, MD. The building will feature office space for up to 550 employees as well as a 10,000-square-foot data center.
The company estimates that it will invest around $65 million in its new headquarters. The firm also owns an adjacent four-acre lot, which will ultimately accommodate a second, 70,000-square-foot building that will house 350 staff members. The company currently employs 1,000 employees throughout the country, 800 of whom are located in Maryland. Merkle plans to increase its staff levels once its new facility opens.
