Warner Bros. faces an embarrassing legal battle after rescinding a sweeps grand prize when it found out the winner was only 11 years old. Los Angeles-based Warner’s ran the Toon Marooned Adventure Sweeps on its Looney Tunes Web site; entrants watched an episode and answered a question for a chance to win a Chevy Venture minivan.
The rules stated that only licensed drivers over 18 could win; a suit filed on the boy’s behalf argues that the eligibility requirement disqualifies most of the show’s target audience. A Warner Bros. spokesperson told “The New York Times” that the sweeps has to comply with all states’ regulations, so the lawsuit has no merit.
