Net direct marketing sales at Harry and David Holdings Inc. reached $270.5 million for the fiscal year second quarter that ended Dec. 30. This reflects a 4.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
These figures include catalog, Internet, business-to-business and outbound telemarketing sales.
DM sales increased despite a decrease in product shipments, as a result of higher shipping and handling charges and increased prices, according to the company.
Its Jackson & Perkins direct marketing division experienced a 4.9% decrease in net sales, which the company attributed to a planned decrease in published catalog pages, associated with less profitable products.
