Golf-Club Maker Retains Four Spokesmen for Infomercial

Carbite Golf, San Diego, has signed on three famed athletes and a noted sports announcer for its $3.6 million national print and advertising campaign for 1999, which will include an infomercial.

The campaign includes exposure in all the key golf magazines. The infomercial featuring the four spokesmen will be seen on the Golf Channel, on cable television, and also will be telecast on regional sports networks.

The spokesmen are Professional Golf Association Hall of Fame member Frank Beard; former Cincinnati Reds catcher and current professional golfer Johnny Bench; PGA Senior Tour star John Morgan; and noted NBC sports announcer Charlie Jones.

Carbite Golf is the owner of Carbite Technology, which uses advanced powder metallurgy to molecularly bond dissimilar metals. The company had record sales of $15.6 million in 1998, up 79% from $8.7 million in 1997. The company attributed the increase in sales to the popularity of its Polar Balanced Putter.
