GM Launches Site for Women with a Sweeps

General Motors has launched a sweepstakes tied to the launch of its new Web site for women.

The site, called “Women in the Driver’s Seat” at GM.com/women, was developed to educate women planning to buy a vehicle or have a vehicle serviced as well as tips for safety on the road and GM safety innovations for its vehicles.

The site also previews GM’s newest vehicle including its Pontiac Solstice and the Buick LaCrosse and offers checklists for the new car buyer when planning a test drive, negotiating price or taking delivery.

“Women traditionally have not enjoyed the car buying and service experience,” said Cynthia Price, manager for the GM Center of Expertise Women’s Market Initiative, in a statement. “We also know that women place safety as a higher priority in their purchase decision than men do and that 70% of women research on the Internet before coming into our dealer showrooms.”

At the site, the Women with Drive sweepstakes offers the chance to win a variety of prizes including gift certificates, one day at the Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving and a luxury spa vacation at Canyon Ranch Health Resort. A grand prize of $10,000 goes toward the purchase of a GM vehicle. Eprize, Pleasant Ridge, MI, handles the sweeps, which ends Dec. 31.

Once players enter the sweeps they advance to a eDecoder Game page to play an instant-win game. The game piece can be obtained through the mail, from print ads or an electronic version from the site. The game piece, when viewed over the game page, will instantly notify the player if they are a potential winner. Potential winners get an e-mail explaining how to get their prize; gift certificates for online shopping at Amazon.com, Sephora.com, 1800Flowers.com, Redenvelope.com and Toysrus.com.
