Gateway, Inc. said last week that it will close 188 retail stores this Friday. In other news, the company eliminated T. Scott Edwards’s position of executive VP-consumer, and said he would leave the company in four weeks.
Edwards is one of six Gateway executives whose position was eliminated as a result of Gateway’s acquisition of eMachines, Inc.
Edwards’s duties will be distributed to other executives, including Brad Shaw, who will serve on an interim basis as senior VP-marketing, Gateway spokesperson Bob Sherban said.
The company plans to continue direct sales of its products through its Gateway.com Web site and 1-800-Gateway.
