Financial Reports: Overstock.com, Jos. A. Bank

Online discounter Overstock.com enjoyed a 6% rise in annual sales, to $876.8 million for 2009. More impressive, it turned around its 2008 net loss of $11.1 million into net income of $7.7 million. Fourth-quarter results were strong as well: Sales jumped by 27%, to $322.4 million, and instead of a net loss of $705,000, the company posted net income of $12.7 million.

Annual catalog and online sales for menswear merchant Jos. A. Bank Clothiers increased 12.2% during fiscal 2009, while net sales grew 10.7%, to a record $770.3 million for the year ended January 30. Net income reached a record as well: $71.2 million, up 22% from fiscal 2008. Jos. A. Bank sells via 473 stores nationwide and four seasonal catalogs.
