Discovery Networks to put a New Spin on The Health Network

Discovery Networks, U.S. will relaunch The Health Network in January 2004 with new programming that includes exercise and wellness series and specials.

Discovery Communications, Inc. acquired The Health Network from the Fox Cable Networks Group in September 2001. The new network, FitTV, plans to launch with 30 million subscribers and grow to about 50 million over the next few years.

Programming will include Body by Jake, in partnership with physical exercise instructor Jake Steinfeld.

Carole Tomko has been named general manager of the network. Most recently, Tomko worked for the Discovery Network’s Animal Planet as VP-production and development.
