Bassett Wins Irving Wunderman Award

Steve Bassett, creative director of the Martin Agency of Richmond, VA, has won the Irving Wunderman Award for lifetime creative achievement.

The Board of Directors of the John Caples organization selected Steve Basset based on the tremendous quality of his creative work produced over more that two decades.

Bassett has worked at Martin for more than a decade, where he reportedly helped introduce America to two Wrangler cowboys named Jake and Clint, the Man Who Wrote the Yellow Pages and some pretty funny GEICO commercials.

Other accounts he has worked on include Kellogg’s, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, UPS, American Airlines, Norwegian Caribbean Lines, JCPenney, Phillips Petroleum Company and Tabasco.

Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bassett moved at an early age to Los Angeles. He received his advertising degree from the University of Georgia and went on to work at such agencies as McKinney + Silver in Raleigh, Chiat/Day in Los Angeles and as chief creative officer of DDB in Dallas.
