American West, U.S. Airways Combine Frequent Flyer Program

American West and U.S. Airways have joined their frequent flyer programs, FlightFund and Dividend Miles, into one reward scheme following the recent merger of the two airlines.

A new program, which will retain the name U.S. Airways’ name Dividend Miles, will roll out next spring. This month, members of FlightFund or Dividend Miles can redeem and earn miles on flights from either airline. Any outstanding mileage balance will be combined into the new Dividend Miles program in the spring.

“By combining America West’s award-winning FlightFund and Elite program with the worldwide reach of U.S. Airways and the Star Alliance, we believe that we have created the best frequent flyer program in the nation for our customers,” said Scott Kirby, executive VP, sales and marketing, said in a statement.

The consolidated program now features a single chart offering award travel starting at 25,000 miles. Members can also earn 500-mile bonus for booking online at either Americawest.com or Usairways.com. Dividend Miles no longer requires a Saturday night stay requirement.
