Amazon Income and Sales Rise

Amazon.com Inc. posted net income of $225 million in for the fourth quarter, a 9% increase over $207 million in the prior year.

The online marketer reported net sales of $6.7 billion for the quarter ended Dec. 31, an increase of 18% over $5.7 billion the last year.

The Seattle firm posted North American sales of $3.6 billion for the quarter, an 18% increase over about 3.1 billion in the prior year.
