Acxiom Confirms Work Force Reductions

Acxiom Corp., Little Rock, AR, confirmed reports that it will eliminate 250 positions, or five percent of its total work force. Last Thursday, its associates were told that this process was being implemented, and that by mid-September severance packages and outplacement services would be proffered. The cuts will be made across all levels and functions of the company, but no divisions will be eliminated as a result of this action.

Each division will be responsible for generating its own cuts, although, according to spokesperson Dale Ingram, “in each of the units common sense will be applied.” The cuts, said Ingram, would be made among the company’s “lowest contributors.” The details for how they would be identified will be worked out on a division by division basis.

The cuts are being made to improve performance: according to Ingram, elimination of redundancies resulting from acquisitions is not part of the process. Ingram also said that Acxiom plans to continue to aggressively recruit, hire and grow its business.
