Yahoo Launches First-Ever Talent Show

Yahoo is on the search for some of America’s most talented people and has launched an online video contest inviting consumers to send in clips demonstrating their best skills for a chance to star in or produce their own online show.

The Internet brand is seeking people with a variety of talents—from filmmaking and animation to stand-up comedy, pet comedy and performance art—to become what Yahoo calls a Web Celeb. Consumers can submit their videos to the Yahoo Talent Show at TalentShow.Yahoo.com. Entrants can submit up to 50 different videos through Nov. 27.

Starting Nov. 13, visitors to the site can get a peek at some of the most interesting and outrageous video submissions highlighted by host Mayleen Ramey. Consumers can watch, comment vote on video submissions to help a panel of judges narrow down the field to five finalists through Dec. 4.

Once chosen, finalists will compete in a series of video challenges. For the last challenge, finalists will fly to New York City and compete before the talent show judges. Consumers will then vote on the final round Dec. 12-13 to determine the grand-prize winner. The top winner gets $50,000 and the chance to star in or produce their own online show on Yahoo.

Yahoo handles the talent show in-house. Embassy Row handles the talent show production.

The contest runs through Dec. 4. Online materials, and p.r. efforts support.
