Wientzen to Address DMers’ Worries at Conference

Direct marketers will be facing a number of difficult issues this year, H. Robert Wientzen, CEO of the Direct Marketing Association, will warn in his keynote luncheon address at the Government Affairs conference.

Privacy and Washington’s increased focus on information sharing head the list. Other concerns are the need for postal reform and the DMA’s resolve to continue pressuring Congress and the Administration to enact reform legislation. Also worrying marketers are telemarketing and the Federal Trade Commision’s proposal for a do-not-call list.

Speakers include the John Potter, U.S. Postal Service Postmaster General; Kathleen Abernathy, Federal Communications Commissioner; and Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA.)

The annual Government Affairs conference runs today and tomorrow in Washington, D.C.
