USPS Adopts New Bound Printed Matter Rule

The U.S. Postal Service has adopted a new marking requirement for multiple-piece Bound Printed Matter secured with transparent shrinkwrap.

Under the new standards, which take effect July 6, mailers must use a firm optional endorsement line or apply a pressure-sensitive firm Label F, according to the USPS. The new standards do not apply to BPM flats or irregular parcels.

The new marking will enable automated equipment to recognize that those parcels are intended for a single address, claimed the USPS

The USPS first proposed this rule change late last year (Direct Newsline, Dec. 27, 2005).
