Two for the road

Posted on

Mediaplex, an advertising technology company, and OpenGrid, a provider of wireless Internet services, have joined forces to offer marketers a system for transmitting real-time messages to existing customers’ cellular phones, pagers, and other mobile devices. The way it works, someone who just ordered tickets to a Smashmouth concert on her cell phone might instantaneously get a message about a promotion for the group’s new CD.

Messages will be transmitted in Mediaplex’s adXML language, which has the ability to integrate an advertiser’s internal business data such as inventory, pricing, and customer profiles with the ad message in real time. The conduit is OpenGrid’s Interchange platform, a technology that allows Internet transmission to the mobile customer by enabling intelligent interaction with wireless messaging, content, commerce, and promotions. Details can be obtained by calling 877-402-7539.
