Travelzoo’s Revenue, Income Up in Fourth Quarter, Year

Travelzoo, an online travel enthusiasts’ service company, generated fourth-quarter revenue of $17.7 million, up from $13.9 million a year ago. Net income jumped from $1.7 million to $4.3 million during the same period.

For all of 2006, the New York-based firm’s revenue rose from $50.8 million to $69.5 million, and its income more than doubled from $8 million to $16.8 million. The quarter and the year ended Dec. 31.

During 2006, the company ramped up its European operations, which rose 153%, to $961,000. The company reported an operating loss of $356,000 on its European business, down from $579,000 in fourth-quarter 2005. In September 2006, Travelzoo added a Germany-based newsletter to its U.K. offerings.

Within North America, Travelzoo’s revenue rose 23%, to $16.9 million, while operating profit jumped from $4.1 million to $8 million for the year.
