The Ultimate Tailgate

Mott’s, Inc., Stamford, CT, launched a national sweeps in March that offers consumers a chance to win The Ultimate Tailgating Vehicle just in time for the fall football season.

Running through Aug. 1, the campaign for the company’s Mr & Mrs T and Holland House cocktail mixes features a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo as grand prize and secondary awards including such tailgating essentials as cordless blenders, Igloo coolers, and football-shaped grills. The effort features a $1 instantly redeemable coupon and a $2 coupon redeemable by mail.

Brand spokesperson Boomer Esiason, ABC’s Monday Night Football commentator, will award the Jeep in September and support the sweeps with radio spots aired in select markets. Esiason will appear on the Tailgating Association of America’s Web site, which is sponsored by Mr & Mrs T. Mott’s will make a donation to the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which funds Cystic Fibrosis research.

Distributors, brokers, store managers, and store buyers will compete to build the best displays and win a 1999 Jeep Cherokee to drive for one year, or receive up to $350 per month for loan payments on their current vehicle.

Junk Mail No More This time, consumers, open the envelope. Val-Pak Direct Marketing Systems, Inc., Largo, FL, is spicing up its spring mailers with $100 checks that will be placed in about 1,000 of the 43 million coupon packs delivered to consumers.

The company is hoping the offer will inspire more consumers to open the envelopes, then use the enclosed coupons they find inside. “There’s no catch,” said Val-Pak president Joseph Bourdow. “The recipient simply cashes the check at the bank.”
