Talbots Kids Launches T-Shirt Contest

Talbots Kids is calling on young artists. The retailer is out with a contest that will put the winning masterpiece on T-shirts to be sold in company stores.

The Design-A-Tee contest, which begins Sept. 3, asks kids ages four to 12 to submit an original design depicting their favorite animals.

Customers can view 10 finalists’ designs in store or by printing a ballot at Talbots.com from Nov. 5 to 28. Votes can be cast in Talbots locations or via mail. One grand-prize winner gets a $1,000 Talbots Kids shopping spree, a sketching and drawing gift set and their design printed on limited-edition T-shirts. Nine other finalists will receive a $250 Talbots Kids shopping spree and a sketching and drawing gift set.

Entry forms will be available in Talbots stores or online. Submissions will be accepted through Oct. 3.

The limited-edition T-shirts will be available in March for $20 each. Talbots Kids stores will donate 10% of each sale to benefit The Humane Society of the U.S. Proceeds will go toward veterinarian care for poor, low income or indigent people with pets, the company said.

In-store signage, online marketing, direct mail and PR will support the content. Talbots is handling the promotion in-house.
