Snapple Upsets Staten Island Official with Real Facts Game

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

For Snapple and it’s popular Real Facts Game, the attention turned earlier this week to one question: “What is the most recognized smell in the world?”

When the answer popped up on the Snapple Web site, some were offended. The answer: “No, it’s not Staten Island. It’s coffee” upset City Councilman James Oddo, who represents Staten Island, and contacted Snapple president Jack Belsito to complain, according to news reports.

The joke was pulled from the site at Snapple.com and Snapple apologized.

But Oddo and a state senator still held their version of the Boston Tea Party. Each poured a bottle of Snapple into a catch basin outside Oddo’s district office. And, Oddo is reportedly now drinking rival Arizona iced tea.

Snapple did not respond to calls for comment.
