Search Engines Asked to Stop Ads for Illegal Prescriptions

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy is pressuring online search engines to cease running advertisements from unlicensed drug dealers, CNET reported.

The Association wants to stop ads for prescription drugs, such as Vicodin and OxyContin that can be ordered over the Internet without a doctor’s prescription.

The NABP and Drugstore.com have contacted sites, such as Google, MSN Web portal and America Online, reporting they have run ads from the unlicensed distributors.
