Royal Mail Strike Called Off

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The U.K. Communication Workers Union, which represents about 120,000 British postal workers, has called off strikes for Fri. Nov. 6th and Mon. Nov 9th as it reached an interim agreement with Royal Mail, according to the union.

The interim agreement will provide a period of calm for the CWU and Royal Mail to reach a full and final agreement, according to the CWU.

In addition, this agreement guarantees that modernization will be introduced with agreed job security and improved terms and conditions for postal workers, noted the union.

Details of the agreement are being released on Friday.

This agreement apparently ends the labor dispute that has dragged on for months as Royal Mail tries to modernize and cope with a more than $16 billion deficit. Click here for more
