J.C. Penney reported that its catalog sales are down aout 20% for the month of December despite better-than-expected retail performance.
The Plano, TX-based firm posted a low single-digit increase in its comparable sales, and a 6% boost in its comparable drugstore sales.
The top retail categories included children’s merchandise, home and shoes.
The period includes all four weeks of December plu sSunday of Week five, the firm stated.
Meanwhile, Federated reported that its comparable store sales will be down roughly 2.5% for December and down approximately 4.5% for the November/December period.
