Primedia Business Magazines & Media has moved its list rental and fulfillment operations to outside vendors as part of an ongoing effort to improve business processes.
More than 40 employees will be laid off as the transitions unfold. Most layoffs will take place in Olathe, KS, where the firm’s fulfillment operations are based.
The company has awarded the management of its 90-plus magazine postal lists and 50 e-mail files to list management and brokerage firm Statlistics, Danbury, CT, effective March 1. The postal lists total 4.6 million subscribers. The files had been managed in house.
A decision on a vendor for the company’s fulfillment operations had yet to be finalized.
As part of the restructuring, the Olathe office will close after the transition of fulfillment operations is completed. The majority of staff is expected to remain through June with a small transition staff staying on until October.
