Office Depot Opens Loyalty Program in Puerto Rico

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Office Depot, which first opened locations in Puerto Rico in 2007, is now offering residents there the opportunity to join its Worklife Rewards loyalty program.

The program includes such benefits as 10% back in rewards on ink, toner and paper purchases and copy and print depot services. The program also offers 1% back in rewards on almost all other products and services. People sign up via the Spanish language Web site.

Rewards are even greater for teachers.

“We definitely want to convert the majority of our customers into Worklife reward members,” spokesperson Melissa Perlman said.

To market the offer, Office Depot is using a mix of media, including in-store signage and events, e-mail, inserts, register receipts, on-hold messages and delivery order flyers, she said.

Office Depot held off promoting the program until logistics were in place. It chose the first of the year to make the announcement to coincide with reward redemption, which takes place on a quarterly basis, Perlman said.

The company has six retail store locations on the island in addition to launching its Business Solutions Division for small and medium sized businesses.
