McDonald’s Launches Unbranded Campaign

Posted on by Patty Odell

Turning away from images of Ronald McDonald and its Golden Arches, McDonald’s has a new marketing playbook: an unbranded marketing campaign.

The TV spots broke last week and leave the viewer curious about what the star, Mindy Kaling, is up to. She encourages viewers to search Google “for that place where Coke tastes so good.”

The red and gold McDonald’s colors that appear in the ad offer a hint. Kaling is wearing a bright yellow dress and standing in front of a red background. Each time the name of the “place” is mentioned, it gets bleeped over leaving the viewer wanting to know more.

The ad relies on millions of search engine results that favor McDonalds and the way Millennials use their phones and social media , the New York Times said.
