M&A Activity Up In First Quarter: Petsky Prunier

The 201 mergers or acquisitions tracked in first-quarter 2010 by Petsky Prunier represent a marked improvement over the 183 recorded in first-quarter 2009. The total value of the transactions from a year ago was $2.6 billion. This jumped to $8.8 billion during the quarter just ended. But that $8.8 billion figure represents a downward tick from the $13.3 billion in activity recorded in fourth-quarter 2009, when the investment firm observed 200 deals.
