Loews Cineplex Boost Buzz With Sahara Sweeps

To help build buzz around the upcoming release of Sahara, Loews Cineplex Entertainment is rolling out a new sweepstakes offering consumers a chance to win a new Jeep Wrangler.

new Jeep to promote Sahara

Patrons can enter the Do you Have A Winning Ticket? sweepstakes beginning April 8 by saving their ticket stub and registering at
Enjoytheshow.com. The sweepstakes will award one grand-prize winner with new 2006 Jeep Wrangler. Lesser prizes include
Sahara-themed T-shirts and hats.

The sweepstakes launch coincides with
Sahara’s release in theaters on April 8. Loews is teaming up Paramount Pictures and Jeep dealerships as part of the promotion.

Participating radio stations and Jeep dealerships will support. Select radio stations in each market will choose the 100th caller to win a chance to be chauffeured by the radio station’s DJ in a Jeep 4X4 Wrangler to a special screening of
Sahara at their local Loews theater. Following the movie, the D.J. will escort the winner to dinner at an area restaurant.

Loews Cineplex will further extend movie-goers’ experience with a secondary promotion. Participating Loews Theaters nationwide will display a Jeep in a desert setting with sand scattered on the floor. Consumers can sift through the sand to search for a winning key that unlocks the vehicle. The winner will receive camel backs and hats. The sweepstakes runs through May 6.

Radio spots, Internet materials and in-theater signage will support. New-York-based Marinelli Communications, Inc. and Paramount Pictures handle.

Sahara tells the tale about master explorer Dirk Pitt, played by Matthew McConaughey, who embarks on a treasure hunt through dangerous regions of West Africa to search for “The Ship of Death”—a lost Civil War battleship which protects a secret cargo. Pitt and his sidekick help doctor Eva Rojas, played by Penelope Cruz, when they discover the ship may be linked to mysterious deaths in the area.
