Hickory Farms, Maumee, OH, has announced plans to close 18 shopping mall stores to focus on catalog and Internet sales, according to wire service reports.
According to reports, sales within the company’s stores have slipped, and the company believes that grocery stores and large retail outlets provide better forums for its products. Internet sales, a Hickory Farms executive told the wires, doubled during the past year.
