We were impressed with the quality and the lifelike appearance of the plush animals from Douglas Cuddle Toys, so we rang up HQ in Keene, NH, to find out what the up-charge was on these babies. But company president Scott Clarke protested that Douglas actually came in cheaper than many market leaders. “We just quoted a price for 80,000 beanbag animals of $1.50,” he claimed. Douglas specializes in realistic-looking faces, but it will give you cartoonish if that’s what you want.
