DM giant Fingerhut Cos. Inc., Minneapolis, announced four key appointments in its electronic commerce business.
Andy Johnson was named president, Love Goel was named COO, Steve Larkin was appointed chief merchandising officer and William Doyle was named general manager.
Johnson, who had been senior vice president for market development for Fingerhut, will be responsible for the company’s overall e-commerce strategy and operations.
Goel, who joined Fingerhut in 1998 from Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group, will oversee its Internet business development, promotions, site development, creative and information services integration.
Larkin will provide leadership in the company’s e-commerce merchandising efforts. He came to Fingerhut in 1995 from Federated Department Stores Inc.’s Rich’s division, where he was vice president of merchandising.
Doyle will have day-to-day management responsibility for Fingerhut’s online retail Web sites. He was most recently manager of Internet strategic development at Lands’ End Inc., Dodgeville, WI.
Fingerhut, which was acquired by Federated in March, operates four proprietary Web sites at http://www.fingerhut.com, http://www.andysgarage.com, http://www.thehut.com and http://www.figis.com.
In addition, Fingerhut has ownership stakes in five other online companies: PC Flowers & Gifts, The Zone Network, FreeShop.com, Roxy.com, and Hand Technologies. (See DIRECT, February 1999.)
