Jerry Schillinger, who will replace Dave Florence at Direct Media Inc., brings a strong background in catalog and Internet marketing to his new role as CEO.
Schillinger, 43, was responsible for managing a $50 million acquisition advertising budget, including the circulation of 50 million prospect catalogs at Spiegel, where he worked for 10 years.
He launched FTD.com, in two years equipping it to handle more than 100,000 orders per week, according to DMI. Schillinger also was the president of Spilsbury Inc., a catalog niche operation he founded. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the business, including marketing, merchandising, operations, finance, private label development and catalog design and production, he built and marketed an Internet site, which accounted for 18% of total company business in 2000.
