Delta Fliers Donate 25 Million Miles

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Delta SkyMiles members have donated 25 million frequent-flier miles for tsunami relief efforts.

The miles are funneled through Delta’s SkyWish program and distributed to the American Red Cross, CARE and Unicef to fly relief workers and supplies to the area.

Atlanta-based Delta and other airlines asked for miles donations (and offered miles to members who made cash donations) shortly after the Dec. 26 tsunami (Jan. 19 PROMO P&I).

Meanwhile, SkyMiles members have donated 82 million miles to Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit that flies family members to visit wounded military personnel overseas and hosts them in “comfort homes” on military bases and V.A. medical centers.

In all, donated miles have funded 4,000 tickets since September.
