Delia’s Inc., the online, catalog and mall-based retailer of youth apparel, said profit rose 94% in the third quarter of 2006, thanks largely to stronger sales at retail stores.

For the quarter, the New York-based retailer earned $3.3 million, compared with $1.7 million in earnings the same time last year. Revenue for the quarter was $67.5 million, up 12% from $60.3 million in Q3 2005.

Net sales from Delia’s retail division grew to $25.9 million for the quarter; that was 26.4% higher than the year-ago figure of $20.5 million. Comparable store sales increased 5% during the quarter. Delia’s added four new stores during the three months ended Oct. 28 and now operates 71 premier stores and two outlets.

The direct-marketing segment saw net sales increase 4.6% to $41.7 million, from $39.9 million in Q3 2005.
