I read with considerable enthusiasm Henry Cowan’s letter to the editor in your September issue, where he asked that he be referred to as “Mother of All Copywriters” or “King of the Sweepstakes” rather than just a mere copywriter.
As “The Czar of Junk,” I myself have often wondered why others cannot simply acknowledge the reality. There are those of us who walk on water.
Recently, for instance, I just learned that my new direct mail package for More Magazine indexed 200, and is the most successful promotion in the history of the Meredith Corp. This certainly qualifies me for some kind of knighthood, a Nobel or a place on Mount Rushmore. And yet there are some (green with envy) who would deign to call me…a typist!
The real issue that we should be discussing is…who should have children’s books written about them – “The King” or I?
