Continental Airlines Drops Bag Fee for Chase Cardholders

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

In an incentive bucking the recent establishment of baggage fees among the major airlines, Continental Airlines is waiving the fee on a passenger’s first checked bag for Continental Chase credit and debit cardholders.

Primary credit and debit card members will be eligible to check their first bag without paying a fee—a $15 savings per passenger checking bags each way. Continental Airlines Presidential Plus card members can now check up to two bags without paying a fee, for a potential savings of up to $40 each way.

Customers traveling with the primary card member will also be eligible for the waived fees if they are listed in the same reservation and check in at the same time.

“Waiving the first checked baggage fee offers a significant benefit to the more than 1 million customers who carry a Continental Airlines Chase credit or debit card,” said Mark Bergsrud, Continental’s senior vice president marketing programs and distribution.

Checked bags must meet weight and size restrictions. These fee waivers will apply to all Continental Airlines, Continental Express and Continental Connection flights. Details are available.
