A full 78% of catalog companies increased holiday Internet sales in 2002, according to a new Direct Marketing Association survey.
At the same time, 22% of survey respondents said that holiday print catalog sales fell, with an average 11.4% decline compared with 2001.
Catalogs increased Web sales an average of 47.3% over the previous holiday season. A total of 17% of companies reported that Web sales remained the same. None reported a decline in Web sales.
The survey also found that:
* 52% of companies reported an increase in holiday print catalog sales, with an average growth of 12.5% over 2001.
* 17% of catalogers said that holiday print catalog sales remained the same as 2001.
The survey polled 23 catalogers earlier this month including small, large and multiple-title catalogers.
