Bravo cooked up a storm yesterday, literally, in New York City to hype up the new season of its hit show “Top Chef 3 Miami.”
The network teamed with NYC & Company to stage a live outdoor cook-off at Union Square between last season’s winner Ilan Hall and fan favorite Sam Talbot. The two faced off in a 30-minute challenge using certain ingredients set up in actual kitchen.
Hall was the winner.
As part of the event, reps handed out 1,000 boxes of “Top Chef”- branded chocolate that contained tune-in information about the show to passersby. Visitors who received boxes with stickers on the bottom also earned other gifts, including restaurant gift certificates, “Top Chef”-branded aprons, and tote bags.
Contestants from “Top Chef 3 Miami” also appeared on-stage to hype up the series.
The event promoted the show’s third season, which begins tonight at 10 p.m. on Bravo and the start of the reservation period for NYC Restaurant Week, which begins June 18.
NYC Restaurant week is the semiannual celebration of the city’s dining scene, which runs from July 16-20 and July 23-27. It is the 16th year of the event.
On Sunday, Bravo teamed with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau for “Top Chef” Presents a Taste of Miami Spice in Miami Beach. There, area restaurants sampled their wares via tasting booths.
“Top Chef 3 Miami” is a reality show that features chefs competing against each other in weekly challenges. The top winner at the end of the season receives $100,000 to launch their culinary career and other perks.
This season’s show sponsors include Glad, Cold Stone Creamery, Evian, and Toyota.
Grand Central Marketing handled the events.
