Blimpie CMO Moves to Universal Studios

Universal Studios Hollywood has named marketing executive Mark Mears to senior VP-marketing and sales.

In his new role, Mears will oversee all brand direction for the Los Angeles entertainment park, including the theme park and the CityWalk shopping and entertainment complex. He will lead the company in its new brand position as “The Entertainment Capital of L.A.”

Mears joins Universal Studios Hollywood from Blimpie International, where he worked as CMO, responsible for all marketing for the restaurant chain. Mears has held top-level marketing, advertising and promotion positions for brands including Pizza Hut and JCPenney, as well as agency experience with Bozell Worldwide, Leo Burnett and Euro RSCG Retail.

He will continue to serve on the board of directors and executive committee as chairman elect of the Promotion Marketing Association.
