Arnold Puts Carey, McLaughlin in Charge

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Arnold Brand Promotions has named two directors to run the agency following the departure of senior vice president and director Beth Rice.

Michael Carey and Mary McLaughlin take charge of the Boston agency, which is a division of Arnold Worldwide. Both were promoted from within Arnold’s ranks. Carey had been senior vice president and group account director; McLaughlin had been vice president and group account director.

Carey has been at Arnold for seven years, supervising work for Hasbro, Citizens Bank, Celebrity Cruises, McDonald’s, Hershey’s, Estee Lauder and others. He is now leading a new-product launch for Pfizer’s Oral Care division. McLaughlin has been at Arnold for four years; she led the agency’s work for Volkswagen until Arnold lost that business in 2005. McLaughlin oversaw Ocean Spray’s fall tour, Bogs Across America.

Rice left Arnold in early December to form her own marketing agency with an emphasis on promotions. Rice will work with marketers and other agencies to integrate promotions into their overall brand marketing.

Arnold Brand Promotions was PROMO’s 2006 Agency of the Year, based on its well-integrated work for clients including Tyson, Volkswagen and Fidelity Investments. The agency had estimated 2005 net revenues of $54 million, up an estimated 140% from 2003.
