Author Backs Treasure Hunt With $10,000 Incentive on Starz

Starz Entertainment Group is backing a real-life treasure hunt with new on-air clues that could lead viewers to an uncut black diamond and $10,000 in cash.

The network is teaming up with Michael Stadther, author of A Treasure’s Trove, a second time to give Starz viewers new clues to help find the hidden treasure. As an extra incentive, Stadther is offering $10,000 to the person who solves the clue and finds the uncut black diamond by Dec. 18.

A Treasures Trove made headlines last year when Stadther revealed the book contained clues that led to 13 tokens he hid across the country that readers could redeem for real-life treasures. In September, Stadther said he hid a 14th token, which clue-solvers can redeem for an uncut black diamond worth thousands of dollars.

Starz added to the fun, airing exclusive on-air clues for viewers this month as part of its Trio of Treasures promotion (Xtra Nov. 8). The network is extending the promotion to reveal additional clues over the next three weeks.

Clues will air following the premiere of three films at 9 p.m. ET: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou on Nov. 26, The Aviator on Dec. 3 and Are We There Yet? on Dec. 10. Clues will remain online for 24 hours at Starz.com before being posted at Atreasurestrove.com.
